  • How long does it take to qualify for a Diploma of Clinical Hypnotherapy (DCH)?

We do our best to have each student finish within 10-12 months providing you can complete all relevant tasks, assessments and weekend workshops. Our Diploma allows graduates to qualify as Professional Therapists with Australian Hypnotherapy Associations.

  • Does a college need to be a registered RTO (Registered Training Organization) or VET (Vocational Education & Training) accredited?

No. The Australian Hypnotherapy College (AHC) is a VET-approved school with the Australian Hypnotherapy Associations (AHA), Hypnotherapy Council of Australia (HCA) and the world-renowned International Association of Counselling Hypnotherapists (IACH). If formal registration ever does come in, providing you study and qualify with an Australian recognised college like us, you enter under the grandfather clause. Be assured, you are safe and protected.

Colleges should be registered with the main body, the Hypnotherapy Council of Australia (HCA). The  Australian Hypnotherapy Association, 2020,  stated, "There are no requirements for schools to be government accredited being discussed. If that were to happen in the future, existing members of AHA (your students) would be grandfathered in without any new or additional imposed educational standards."

Be assured, completing your AHC course permits you to full coverage as a qualified and professional Clinical Hypnotherapist.

If another college ever tells you that you have to study with them or fail to be accredited, obtain insurance or health fund privileges, they are not truthful. Any college spruiking this false statement is misleading prospective students.

  • What if I can't make it to the weekend school?

The weekend schools are mandatory. You can attend either online or in-person in the Lake Macquarie / Newcastle area of NSW. You can continue to study and do the missed module later.

  • I am counsellor-trained/psychologist; do I get RPL's for the hypnotherapy course?

Registered Counsellors and Psychologists can obtain some RPL's in study time. You also get min 260 hours of CPD, way more than you need over two years. Your fee is also a tax deduction saving you on average 35% of the course cost off your tax.

  • Does working online enable me to stay connected?

We are all connected throughout and after training. We run Zoom meetings between each module and we give you 12 months of free supervision after graduation. Unlike other colleges, we proactively stay with you throughout your training and for a year after your graduation. We are always only a phone call or email away. You are never alone.

  • How often are training workshops run?

We run weekend workshops every five to six weeks with Zoom meetings in between. Lessons can be attended online. We may also offer weekday modules depending on enrollment numbers.

  • Do I need any previous qualification to study clinical hypnotherapy and psychotherapy?

Students are required is to speak, read and write English proficiently. No previous qualifications are required. Having access to a computer for zoom, emails and access to the online platform for readings and assignments are required.

  • Can I start at any time?

We commence our course at the beginning of each year. We do this to ensure all students obtain their basic foundational knowledge. We never have students coming in during the course year as they miss out on the foundational skills that are essential to progressive learning. In between each module, there are readings, practical work and assignments. Please contact the College for the next start dates.

  • If I am studying online, what do I need?

We ask each student to have access to a computer or laptop with a webcam. We will mail your modules in hard copy, plus you have access to all lessons on our online platform. We send you an email with a Zoom link to use on weekend training days; however, we always try to connect with you before training day to ensure you are ready.

  • I work full time, how many hours of study will it be each week?

The majority of students work full time. We estimate approximately 8-10 hours each week to read, watch videos, listen to audios and undertake assessment tasks. You do not have to finish all assessments on each module before progressing to the next module.

  • Will I be able to get private health fund privileges once I graduate?

Yes, once you graduate we pay for your first 12-month membership with the Australian Hypnotherapy Association. Once you are a professional member, you are registered for entitlements and your client can claim a private health rebate if their fund covers it.

  • Once I finish my Diploma of Hypnotherapy, then what?

Once you graduate, you will be ready to work with clients professionally. Not only that, with our Diploma Training you will have your business name, website and marketing material prepared. You will also be trained to convert every phone enquiry into a paid appointment. When clients find you through our assisted marketing, you can start working with them to change their lives. Your therapy practice will thrive.

  • Do I need Ongoing Learning?

All our students continue to have access to our online platform, meaning all updates and additional information, readings, videos, remain accessible to you. Apart from the free supervision we provide for a year after you graduate, we remain contactable for any questions you may have. You also remain on our private Facebook group so you have contact will all past and present students.

  • How do I contact you?

You can email us anytime at admin@ahypno.com.au or call our Director Karen Phillip directly on 0418-216-836.

  • Is it better to study Clinical Hypnotherapy compared to other therapies offered?

There are some colleges offering 'their brand' of  therapy. They often claim ground-breaking treatments with testimonials often purchased or invented. Unless you can gain registration through a recognised Association such as the Australian Hypnotherapy Association(AHA) and the Hypnotherapy Council or Australia (HCA) - beware and stay away. You will pay an escalated fee, and at best, gain basic training but not be able to register professionally.

All therapists should be in a registered in a professional association after graduation. This is question number one to ask. If they say you can join an association, please contact the registered association to ensure you can join from their course as too many are telling students they can join when truth be known, once they finish, they can not. The Australian Hypnotherapy College students all become members in the AHA governing body once their study is complete.

  • How is the AHC different from the other Colleges

The Australian Hypnotherapy College (AHC) prides itself on providing students with the highest standard Diploma of Clinical Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy training. We teach specific techniques not learned elsewhere so your clients will succeed and thrive, which is great for word-of-mouth marketing.

We include a separate Certificate in NLP and EFT, plus you receive training in Creating a Thriving Therapy Practice. We also remain with you for a full year after you graduate to provide supervision, and support your developing practice. Getting a Diploma is exciting, but then what?? This is why too many good therapists fail to succeed, as they have not learned the skills needed to develop their therapy business or have their trainers available. We stay with you.

We have now added specific training in the Rapid Anxiety Reduction Method (RARM) that was developed and researched by the AHC. We also have a peer-reviewed published article in the ACRJournal on this revolutionary method.

  • How are the Hypnotherapy Masterclasses run?

All Masterclasses are online. Our Quit Smoking Masterclass and Weight Loss Masterclass are for clinical hypnotherapists and done all online. Hypnotic Gastric Banding is only done after completing the Weight Loss Masterclass. There are hours of training, videos, templates and scripted dialogues to use. You become the expert Quit Smoking or Weight Loss specialist.

  • Why it is important to do the DSM-5 Masterclass

The (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) DSM-5 Masterclass prepares you to understand the medical diagnosis of your clients. Our DSM-5 Masterclass is essential for all Hypnotherapists and Counsellors to understand your clients presented symptoms and diagnosis. This will enable you to contact their doctor to advise of treatment and patient progression in terms they need. It adds to referrals and a professional association.
